Katherine Midgley

Katherine is currently a Nurse lecturer, Assistant Professor at the University of Nottingham.  An adult nurse by background and remembers student nurse life very well.  Now a working mum of two lovely children, she has experienced first hand the need to ensure that we remain ‘balanced’ in life and understands well the highs and lows of both nursing and family life.  Her professional and personal journey has shaped how she views wellness, wellbeing and the juggle in all aspects we experience.  Openly, I feel that everyone experiences changes in their own wellbeing throughout different stages of life, and I am learning to embrace this and accept it for what it is!

I hope you enjoy the pod and the authentic conversations, and make you feel you are not on your own wherever you are and whatever you are doing.

Rachel Bacon

I’m Rachel Bacon, an Assistant Professor in Adult Nursing at the University of Nottingham. My clinical background spans emergency care and primary care, where I’ve witnessed first-hand the psychological demands faced by healthcare professionals. As both a nurse and an educator, I’m deeply passionate about raising awareness and creating open, honest conversations around self-care and wellbeing.

Through my own mindfulness practice which includes meditation, yoga, and sound baths, I’ve discovered the transformative power of slowing down and reconnecting with ourselves. This podcast is a space to explore those practices, share experiences, and support one another on the journey towards balance and wellbeing in both our professional and personal lives.
